Our Skating Programs
CanSkate
Exciting new features include a fresh new look, new awards, great tools for coaches and most importantly a tested and proven new curriculum and delivery methods that guarantee skater success in developing stronger basic skills and developing them faster. But there’s more! The new program also includes specific skills that pertain to hockey, ringette, speed skating and figure skating.

CanPowerSkate is an action-packed, high energy instructional power skating program geared to hockey and ringette skaters that focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance.

Pre-STARSkate is a program designed to help skaters make the transition from CanSkate to STARSkate. Pre-STARSkate is an introduction program designed to teach the elements of figure skating in a group lesson format.

Skills, Tests, Achievement, Recognition – this is what STARSkate is all about!
STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating.

Latest COVID Update - March 20, 2021
The Red Deer Skating is sad to announce they will not be running the Spring Canskate and Powerskate programs. To operate within the guidelines set out by the Alberta Government and Skate Alberta is too difficult. We are hoping for good news at the next announcement but it leaves us no time to create, advertise and open registration before the start date. We thank you for your support and we look forward to teaching your children how to skate in the near future. We plan to run our July and August Canskate program in a normal format. We are excited to get back onto the ice to do what we love. See you at the rink soon!

We are not forming cohort groups with our programs. Instead we are physically distancing and when we are not on the ice we are using masks.
